April 6: We went for another Nature Walk and spotted a lazy little squirrel.
Nothing else of interest happened (has there been anything "of interest" yet?)
To keep our promise to take tons of pictures, Anthony photographed the Wilderness Lodge where we stayed
April 7: Epcot
|
You know the giant golf ball at Epcot? "Spaceship Earth" is inside. It starts off entertainingly enough, telling about the first forms of communication: oral histories, speech and, later, the written language. Then it begins to teach us the importance of communication. Its a schizophrenic ride that culminates in a commercial for AT&T (did I mention they are the presenters of "Spaceship Earth"?). There's no cell phone representation, but it shows video phone screens as if they are our best form of communication to date. And that's just half the ride! The rest is seizure inducing lights and a droning story. I think the second half is waiting for future (hopefully not lame) inventions. For its "off the Lithium" feel, this is one of my favorite attractions. |
| Greek actors | Newspapers | Sculptures | The Printing Press? |
|
"The World Showcase" is a lake surrounded by a dozen or so 'nations'. |
| We visited China... | and watched little boys and girls (The Dragon Legend Acrobats) perform amazing acrobatics |
|
Then we visited America to watch "The American Adventure" featuring life size animatronics of... |
| Benjamin Franklin, Mark Twain... | Squanto? | Teddy Roosevelt, his friend... | Some hicks... | Rosie The Riveter and a seaman. |
At 9 o'clock, the fireworks begin. We stood outside Japan to watch.
