April 10: The Animal Kingdom
Our first trip to the Animal Kingdom was in 2002 (I think). We saw almost none of the sights pictured here. We had no idea there were so many animals! Most we couldn't get pictures of. Maybe next time.
|
There are trails everywhere. On either side are open air animal habitats. Its Nahtazu! |

| The Kilimanjaro Safari drives through Africa (complete with a poacher storyline). |
| Vultures | Alligator | Alligators | Giraffe and Zebras | Gazelle? |
| Elephant butt | Elephant head | Antelopes? | Big ass Rhinos | "I'm a Warthog!" -Pumbaa |

In the Pangani Forest of East Africa: |
| Okapi (closest relative the giraffe, not zebra) | Hippopotamus (it may look like its smiling and friendly, but we were told it shit all over the glass a week earlier) | Meerkat |
| Inside a cave with only an inch of glass protection are the gorillas. | If you leave the cave, you can see them a few feet away without the glass. |
|
Along the Maharajah Jungle Trek: |
|
there are giant fruit bats... |
and hot tigers. His feet look funny. |
|
While walking, we spotted... |
| lazy monkeys, | adorable Lemurs, | a very close Flamingo, | and a flock of flamingos! |
|
Around the Tree of Life on Discovery Island: |
|
This tree is man-made with hundreds of animals sculpted into the trunk. |
Kangaroos | A lively little otter | I'm not sure these pictures show the giganticness of this tree. Its like 50 feet across at the base and holds the "Its Tough to be a Bug" 3-D movie inside. |
At the entrance to the Animal Kingdom is the Rainforest Cafe. This big fella' was our table guest. Every 22 minutes, he and his friends perform quite the ruckus during the thunder storm. Every 10 minutes or so, he goes off all on his own, presumably begging for food.
